It's almost Christmas (an hour and ten minutes away), so a Christmas greeting seemed in order.

Hope you all have a great holiday, spend time with your families and friends, have a relaxing time off work, and enjoy anything else you have planned.

I've been a little inactive on the submitting art side of things - been doing Christmas commissions and presents, so I can't post anything 'till after tomorrow.  However, I have some cool ideas for some drawings once I have a bit of free time.

I've been on here for a month, and I thought it was about time I wrote a little something about myself.

I'm a 21 year old girl from Australia, who just loves drawing in her spare time.  I want to branch out, and try other traditional media, such as watercolour and acrylic, scratchboard, dry brush, and pastels.

I joined deviantart last month after entering  my work in the local show.  I did unsurprisingly well (six classes, five entries overall, and three of which were mine - interest in the art section of our show is dwindling, unfortunately).  However, the greatest highlight of the day was the interest shown in my work by locals.  Since then, I have received requests for six commissions, many of which are for family portraits.  To say the least, I have been surprised and overwhelmed by the interest shown in my work.

This has made me realise that art is my passion, and I would love nothing more than to be successful enough to take up art as a full time occupation.  However, I am realistic - I know very few artists are successful enough to support themselve with their work.  So, just a hobby for now.

In order to support my passion, I am studying at university. I am at the end of my first year of Mining Engineering/Science double degree, however I hope to change to Mineral Geoscience next year (I really, really hate maths).  I know I want to work in the mining industry, and already have two years experience.

Not really a lot to say about my interests - apart from the obvious, art, I also love reading, writing, my animals, and going home to the farm.
